Otto may wed Italian princess

May 5, 1930

Viennese political circles "today discussed" the possibility of marriage between Archduke Otto and a princess of the Italian royal family, according to the AP. Interest in the marriage "was shared by aristocratic families in sympathy with such an alliance."
The princess in question is King Vittorio Umberto's youngest child, 16-year-old Princess Maria.
Officials "confessed ignorance of the rumors," but the head of the Legitimist party, Zichy, is said to be in favor of the match. Archduke Albrecht is no longer seen as a viable candidate for the throne, and it is "reported that he soon will leave for a long sojourn in South America."
