Italian royals are helping out the war effort

Members of the Italian royal family are doing their bit for the war effort, reports the Chicago Daily Tribune.  

Princess Jolanda, the eldest daughter of King Vittorio Emanuele, who lives in Turin with her husband, the count of Calvi di Bergolo, "has contributed gold and silver ornaments and coins."  She has also stopped using her car, as has her cousin, the Count of Turin.

Crown Prince Umberto and Crown Princess Marie-José have delighted the residents of Naples "by riding on street cars.  The Prince has given orders "that his autos shall be used only when necessary."  Members of his household who cannot walk "must drive in carriages drawn by the royal horses."

Italy is "conserving gasoline and oil to aid her mechanized army in Africa.
